Meet Rabbi Steve
Rabbi Stephen Robbins
Rabbi Steve is a wise,
sensitive, kind person, a master of both the mystical and
intellectual traditions of Jewish thought. He began his Rabbinic
studies at age 16 at Hebrew Union College in 1960, following in the
tradition of a long line of Rabbis in the Luria family that goes all
the way back to the middle fourteenth century in the Kabbalist
community of Southern France and Northern Spain. He was ordained in
1972 and has spent his combined 45 years of Rabbinic professional
life serving in a variety settings including Hillel at University of
Cincinnati and at University of California Berkeley, followed by 16
years as Rabbi of Temple Emanuel in Beverly Hills, California before
he and Hazzan Eva created N’vay shalom. In addition he has been in
private practice as a Clinical Psychologist and Naturopathic
practitioner and min /body healer. All of this has led to his unique
multi-disciplinary approach to Judaism with an emphasis on his
Kabbalistic roots and their expression in his Rabbinate. This
